Surgical Dermatology Services We Provide

Dr Starnes, our board-certified dermatologist performs skin surgeries daily in our office-based procedure suites. We expertly treat all types of skin cancer and precancerous lesions — including many on the face, ears, nose, eyelids, and lips — with the goal of complete removal, the best cosmetic outcome, and minimal downtime.

Common surgical procedures we perform:

• Excision of basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma (face, scalp, trunk, arms, legs)

• Excision of atypical/dysplastic moles and early melanomas

• Curettage and electrodesiccation (for superficial skin cancers and precancerous lesions)

• Cryosurgery (liquid nitrogen) for actinic keratoses, seborrheic keratoses, warts, and select early skin cancers

• Shave removals and saucerization of benign and malignant lesions

• Punch biopsies and excisional biopsies for diagnosis

• Scalp biopsies and excisions for scarring and non-scarring hair loss

• Incision and drainage of cysts, abscesses, and hidradenitis lesions

• Intralesional steroid injections for keloids, hypertrophic scars, and alopecia areata

• Electrosurgery and hyfrecation for broken capillaries, pyogenic granulomas, and seborrheic keratoses

• Nail surgery (partial or total nail plate removal, matrixectomy for ingrown toenails, nail biopsies)

• Earlobe repair for split or gauged earlobes

• Scar revision and keloid surgery

• Removal of epidermoid cysts, lipomas, and other benign subcutaneous growths

We use advanced layered closure techniques, flaps, and grafts when needed on the face and other visible areas to achieve the best possible cosmetic result. Most procedures are performed under local anesthesia with little to no downtime — you walk in and walk out the same day.

While we do not perform Mohs micrographic surgery on-site, we diagnose and surgically treat the full range of skin cancers and refer to trusted Mohs surgeons only when microscopically controlled margins are required. Same-week surgical appointments are typically available.
